The 2011 CoCoDA Appeal: The strength of our past, a vision for our future.

Dear Friend of CoCoDA:
Last year El Salvador reached an important milestone. For the first time since the end of the civil war in 1992 the country elected as its president a member of the former guerilla party, the FMLN. The Salvadoran people still face significant challenges, but this moment’s meaning is clear: El Salvador is no longer the country it was at the signing of the Peace Accords. It is only natural that this momentous occasion is accompanied by questions about where El Salvador has been—and where it may go in the future. For nearly 20 years, CoCoDA has worked alongside the Salvadoran people to redress displacement, destruction, and other ravages of war and to replace them with community, empowerment, and opportunity. We have seen the progress, and we know the continuing obstacles to peace and prosperity. And so, over the last year, we have asked the same questions of CoCoDA: where have we come from—and where do we want to go? Follow CoCoDA on Facebook
